Discover Japanese national treasures
Established in 1917 by industrialist Kihachiro Okura, the Okura Museum of Art is Japan’s oldest existing privately operated museum. It exhibits a remarkable collection of ancient ceramics, paintings, calligraphy, sculptures, and samurai armor, all of which reflect Japan’s cultural heritage. With three works designated national treasures, the museum blends traditional architecture with the beauty of the hotel's gardens. Exhibits are regularly rotated so that visitors can discover works that preserve the legacy of Japan’s artistic traditions. The museum currently owns 2,500 pieces, including treasures like the 10th-century poetry collection of Kokin Wakashu, as well as 13 pieces with important cultural properties and 44 important works of art.
The museum is open from April 15, 2025 until June 29, 2025. Opening hours are 10:00 to 17:00 with a last admission at 16:30
The Okura Museum of Art can be found in front of the main hotel entrance on the fifth floor
Reservations are not required but please note that the museum is closed on Mondays, year-end holidays, and when new exhibitions are being prepared
